India: Woman Arrested for Marrying and Robbing 25 Men in Seven Months

Police Crack Down on Fraudulent Bride Who Stole Valuables from Multiple Husbands

Authorities in the Indian state of Rajasthan have arrested a 23-year-old woman, identified as Anuradha Paswan, for allegedly marrying and robbing 25 men within a span of seven months. She was apprehended in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, following an extensive investigation.

According to Times of India, Anuradha lured men into fraudulent marriages, staying with them for a week before fleeing with valuables. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, she had worked in a hospital but relocated to Bhopal after a dispute with her husband, where she became linked to a local gang.

The first complaint was lodged on May 2, 2025, by a resident of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, triggering a two-week investigation that led to her arrest in Bhopal. To confirm her identity, a police officer posed as a groom, prompting gang members to share her pictures via WhatsApp, after which she was taken into custody.

Several members of the gang responsible for arranging these fraudulent marriages were also arrested, all of whom were based in Bhopal. Reports indicate that similar cases of women deceiving multiple men through marriage scams have emerged in India before.
