Torkhow: Soldier Sartaj Ahmed Ties Knot With Two Brides, Local Elders Resolve Village Dispute

Chitral: On May 28, 2025, a rare incident occurred in the village of Sor Rech, Torkhow, Upper Chitral, where FC soldier Sartaj Ahmed (Service Number 709759) from Bara Rifles 162 Wing, Frontier Corps North, married two women on the same day.

According to local sources, Sartaj Ahmed first brought a girl from his village, the daughter of Essa Wali (Sunni sect), to his home with the intention of marriage. However, upon arrival, he found another girl, the daughter of Mahmood (Ismaili sect), already present at his house, claiming a prior relationship and marriage promise from the soldier.

Both women revealed that they had been in telephonic contact with Sartaj Ahmed and that he had promised marriage to each of them. Neither of the women agreed to leave his home, creating a tense situation in the area.

To resolve the matter, local elders intervened and called religious scholar Maulana Faiz-ur-Rehman, who conducted both marriage ceremonies with the consent of the women. A dowry of PKR 900,000 was fixed for each bride.

It's worth noting that Sartaj Ahmed, a Sunni by faith, has been serving in the Frontier Corps for two years and is currently on leave from May 19 to June 12, 2025.
