Colombia beat Costa Rica 3-0 to book spot in Copa America knock-outs

June 28 (Reuters) - Colombia cruised to a 3-0 win over Costa Rica in Group D on Friday and booked their spot in the Copa America quarter-finals thanks to strikes from Luis Diaz, Davinson Sanchez and Jhon Cordoba.

Colombia top their group with six points after two matches, ahead of Costa Rica and Brazil, who have one point each. Paraguay are bottom with zero points and face Brazil later on Friday.

'Los Cafeteros', who will finish the evening first in the group regardless of the later result, sealed a tenth consecutive victory and 25th match without defeat as they pursue their first Copa America title since 2001.

A draw between Brazil and Paraguay could see Nestor Lorenzo's squad secure their top spot in the group, thus avoiding a probable quarter-final against Uruguay.
If not, a draw in their final group match against Brazil on Tuesday should suffice.

Despite the loss, Costa Rica, who have one point, are still in the running, but they need to secure a win in their final match against Paraguay and hope for other results to go their way.

Colombia started the match well and took the lead in the 31st minute through Liverpool winger Diaz, who confidently converted from the penalty spot after Costa Rica goalkeeper Patrick Sequeira bundled over Cordoba in the box.

As Costa Rica pressed for an equaliser they left themselves open on the break and Colombia made them pay, with Sanchez outmuscling defender Juan Pablo Vargas to head Jhon Arias' corner past Sequeira from close range in the 59th minute.


After scoring, Sanchez held up the jersey of team mate Jhon Lucumi, who missed the match due to an injury.
Cordoba rounded out the scoring three minutes later after timing his run perfectly to stay onside and latch onto James Rodriguez's long ball before calmly slotting his finish past Sequeira.

CDC announces further Tariff Reductions to facilitate Capital Market Investors

CDC eliminates Annual Maintenance Fee for the Sub-Account Holders & full waiver of the CDS connection fee and minimum fees for Securities Brokers!

Karachi: The Central Depository Company of Pakistan Limited (CDC) has completely eliminated Annual Maintenance Fee for the Sub-Account Holders, as well as announced a full waiver of the CDS connection fee and minimum fees for Securities Brokers.

However, in order to make the transaction fee equitable, the Intra account movement transaction fee has been introduced.  The revised tariffs reflect CDC's commitment to enhancing market accessibility and cost reduction for all capital market stakeholders.

CDC has announced the additional reduction and rationalization in tariffs, effective July 1, 2024.  In alignment with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan's (SECP) vision for investor facilitation and reducing the cost of doing business, CDC has, since its inception, reduced its transaction and custody fees by nearly 95%.

Commenting on the above reductions, Chairman CDC Farrukh H. Sabzwari and CEO CDC Mr. Badiuddin Akber said, "CDC has consistently passed on these benefits to investors through significant tariff reductions under the visionary guidance of CDC Board.

PTCL advances Telenor Pakistan acquisition by signing financing agreements with IFC-led consortium

Karachi – June 28, 2024: Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has signed formal loan agreements with an International Finance Corporation (IFC)-led consortium to secure up to $400 million in financing for the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers (Pvt.) Limited. This is a significant milestone in the acquisition process following the IFC Board of Directors' approval of the financing deal in April 2024.

PTCL entered into a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) last December with Telenor B.V. to acquire 100% of the shares of Telenor Pakistan at a price of PKR 108 billion on a cash-free, debt-free basis.

The IFC-led consortium, which includes the Silk Road Fund (SRF) and British International Investment plc (BII), has now formally agreed upon a $400 million facility with a seven-year tenor. The facility will be repaid in quarterly installments and includes a one-year capital grace period. The financing of this project is in line with the IFC-led consortium's commitment to enhancing digital connectivity and narrowing the digital infrastructure gap in Pakistan.

Commenting on the development, President and Group CEO, PTCL & Ufone 4G, Hatem Bamatraf said, "We are thrilled to witness the materialization of this financing deal, which brings us closer to concluding this transformative milestone in Pakistan's telecom sector. اسلام آباد/کراچی – 82 جون 2024: پاکستان ٹیلی کمیونی کیشن کمپنی لمیٹڈ (پی ٹی سی ایل) نے ٹیلی نار پاکستان اور اورین ٹاورز (پرائیویٹ) لمیٹڈ کے حصول کے لیے 400 ملین ڈالر تک کے قرضے کے حصول کے لیے انٹرنیشنل فنانس کارپوریشن (آئی ایف سی) کی زیر قیادت کنسورشیم کے ساتھ باضابطہ معاہدے پر دستخط کرلیے ہیں۔ اپریل 2024 میں آئی ایف سی بورڈ آف ڈائریکٹرز کی جانب سے فنانسنگ ڈیل کی منظوری کے بعد یہ ٹیلی نار پاکستان کے حصول کے عمل میں ایک اہم سنگ میل ہے۔

پی ٹی سی ایل نے گزشتہ دسمبر میں ٹیلی نار (بی۔وی۔) کے ساتھ حصص کی خریداری کے معاہدے(ایس پی اے) پر دستخط کیے تھے، جس کے تحت کمپنی نے ٹیلی نار پاکستان کے 100 فیصد حصص 108 ارب روپے کے عوض  کیش فری ،  ڈیٹ فری بنیادوں پر حاصل کر لیے تھے۔

 آئی ایف سی کی زیر قیادت کنسورشیم، جس میں سلک روڈ فنڈ (ایس آر ایف) اور برٹش انٹرنیشنل انویسٹمنٹ(بی آئی آئی)  پی ایل سی شامل ہیں، نے اب پی ٹی سی ایل کو سات سالہ مدت کیلئے 400 ملین ڈالر  کے قرضے کی فراہمی کی باضابطہ منظوری دی ہے۔ قرضے کی واپسی سہ ماہی اقساط میں کی جائے گی، جبکہ معاہدے میں ایک سالہ رعایتی مدت بھی شامل ہے۔ آئی ایف سی کنسورشیم کی جانب سے اس منصوبے کی فنانسنگ ادارے کی جانب سے پاکستان میں ڈیجیٹل کنکٹویٹی اور ڈیجیٹل انفراسٹرکچر کو فروغ دینے کے دیرینہ عزم کا تسلسل ہے۔

Now, Nokia's Network as Code platform with developer portal will run on Google Cloud, enriching the developer experience via Google Cloud data and generative AI solutions and capabilities, including Vertex AI and Gemini 1.5 Pro. Five Soldiers Martyred in Landmine Blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karam District

A security forces vehicle was struck by a landmine blast in the Karam district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on June 21, resulting in the martyrdom of five soldiers. The ISPR confirmed the incident, identifying the martyrs as Havaldar Aqeel Ahmed, Lance Naik Mohammad Tafeer, Sepoy Anush Rafoon, Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan, and Sepoy Haroon William.
