A woman was allegedly raped for six months by a man on the pretext of marrying her at Shamli, police said here.
The incident came to light when the victim lodged a complaint alleging she was sexually harassed by Bittu Sharma on the pretext of marriage, SP Pawan Kumar said.
The accused had threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the mater to any one.
The accused has been booked under section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC in this connection, police said, adding that the victim has been sent for a medical examination.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused, they said.
