Khawaja Asif Accuses Bureaucrats of Corruption and Fleeing the Country
ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has leveled serious allegations against the country's bureaucracy, claiming that more than half of them have acquired properties in Portugal and are preparing for citizenship. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he alleged that "crocodiles" have embezzled billions of rupees and are now enjoying a comfortable retirement.
He further claimed that a close bureaucrat of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar received a dowry of four billion rupees at his daughters' wedding and is now retired and living a life of leisure. Asif contrasted this with the situation of politicians, saying, "Politicians are living off their leftovers and beating their chests. They have no plots or foreign citizenship because they have to contest elections." He concluded by stating that this bureaucracy is "polluting the land of Pakistan."
