India Bars Sheikh Hasina from Making Anti-Bangladesh Political Statements

Shift in Policy: India Reportedly Restricts Hasina’s Public Rhetoric on Dhaka Politics

The Indian government has reportedly instructed former Bangladeshi Prime Minister **Sheikh Hasina** to refrain from making political statements against Bangladesh. According to South Asia expert **Professor Radha Dutta**, this signals that India is **reconsidering its approach** toward its neighbor, marking a potential shift from its previous stance.

Since taking refuge in India, Hasina has frequently commented on the interim government and the political situation in Bangladesh. Analysts, including **Dr. Muhammad Yunus**, viewed these remarks as attempts to destabilize the country. Although Dhaka had repeatedly asked India to restrict her public commentary, no visible action was taken until recently.

Professor Dutta believes the notable decline in Hasina’s social media activity in recent weeks is a result of a **clear directive from the Indian government** to cease anti-Bangladesh rhetoric. Former diplomat **Abdul Hai** suggested that this change in India’s strategy reflects evolving priorities, indicating that Hasina’s future status may largely depend on Bangladesh’s next elected government.
