Health Asia 2025, one of Pakistan’s largest international health and medical exhibitions and conferences, served as a vibrant platform for healthcare professionals, institutions, and organizations to exchange knowledge and expertise. As part of this prestigious event, Patel Hospital organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session focusing on Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The session was attended by medical students, trainees, resident doctors, and professionals from the healthcare field, along with Deputy Medical Director Dr. Shah Masabat Saleem, Director of Communication and Resource Development (CRD) Mr. Farhan Asadi, and Director Operations Mr. Muhammad Siddique.


The event was moderated by Dr. Maryam Zafar. However it was commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Shah Masabat Saleem, who introduced Patel Hospital, its extensive range of healthcare services, and its unwavering commitment to serving humanity through compassion and excellence. He also highlighted the hospital’s strong welfare initiatives, through which underprivileged patients receive quality medical treatment and care.

Following the introduction, distinguished consultants from Patel Hospital delivered a series of insightful presentations. Dr. Taimoor, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, elaborated on the importance of paediatric surgery, its definition, scope, and common complications, emphasizing the significance of timely surgical care for children. Dr. Jalal Akber, Senior Consultant Paediatrician, presented on “The Importance of Vaccination in Children: Protecting Our Future,” highlighting how vaccines work, their critical role in preventing diseases, and the social challenges faced by healthcare workers in promoting vaccination awareness. 


Dr. Azmina Khan, Consultant Paediatrician, spoke about the importance of nutrition during childhood, guiding parents on age-appropriate diets, the significance of breastfeeding, and the need for balanced nutrition at each developmental stage. She also shed light on the alarming rise of smoking among teenagers, terming it a concerning public health issue. Dr. Noureen Iqbal, Senior Registrar, concluded the presentations with a discussion on Paediatric Asthma Management, addressing the challenges faced by children with asthma and sharing effective management techniques and equipment that help improve patient outcomes.


The session concluded with a Shields distribution ceremony for Speakers and Moderator. Through such initiatives, Patel Hospital continues to play a pivotal role in promoting medical education, professional development, and public health awareness—reaffirming its mission to deliver quality and compassionate healthcare to the community.
