PML-N Government Replaces Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori with Nehal Hashmi

MQM-P Protests Governor Change, Calls Decision a "Grave Mistake"

The federal government led by Pakistan Muslim League‑Nawaz has removed Kamran Khan Tessori from the position of Sindh governor and appointed senior party leader Syed Nehal Hashmi as his replacement. The decision was announced by the Prime Minister's Office after a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Hashmi at the PM House, after which a summary for the appointment was sent to the president for approval.

The move triggered a strong reaction from the government's ally Muttahida Qaumi Movement‑Pakistan, which said it had not been consulted before the removal of its nominee Tessori and described the decision as a "grave mistake." Later, President Asif Ali Zardari approved Hashmi's appointment under Articles 48 and 101 of the Constitution, with the presidency confirming that he will take oath before the chief justice of the Sindh High Court.
