Despite the official price of live chicken being set at Rs 410 per kilogram, wholesale rates have climbed to Rs 480 per kilogram, while eggs, officially priced at Rs 300 per dozen, are being sold at Rs 380.
In Peshawar, the price of live chicken has risen by Rs 150 per kilogram in the past 10 days, now reaching Rs 510 per kilogram. Similarly, Rawalpindi has seen live broiler chicken prices jump from Rs 200 to Rs 480, with chicken meat now being sold for Rs 750 per kilogram, up from Rs 500.
This sharp increase in prices has sparked concerns among consumers nationwide, with many calling for stricter regulation to stabilize the poultry market.
