British-Pakistani Student Mahnoor Cheema Breaks World Records with 24 A-Level Subjects
Mahnoor Cheema, an 18-year-old student with British-Pakistani roots, has achieved an extraordinary academic feat by completing 24 A-Level subjects with top distinctions. This accomplishment has earned her four new world records, bringing her total to six global academic records—the highest ever for a secondary school student. She has also successfully secured a spot at Oxford University, where she will be studying medicine.
Mahnoor’s new records are for completing the most individual A-Level subjects with distinction, earning the highest number of A and A* grades in A-Levels (19), and achieving the highest combined total of A* grades (45) for a secondary student, including her previous 34 A grades in GCSEs*. At just 16, she had already set two world records by passing 34 GCSE subjects. Her impressive list of accomplishments also includes an undergraduate-level diploma in music and gold medals in acting and public speaking.
Born to parents from Lahore who moved to the UK in 2006, Mahnoor has been praised by prominent figures, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for being a source of national pride. Her parents’ support has been key to her success, which she described as a "dream come true." A member of Mensa, Mahnoor's remarkable achievements are a testament to her exceptional intelligence, discipline, and dedication.
