Delhi Chief Minister Atishi announced a significant increase in the minimum wages for various worker categories in the national capital. Unskilled workers will now earn ₹18,066 per month, semi-skilled workers ₹19,929, and skilled workers ₹21,917 per month. Atishi attributed this achievement to the AAP government under the leadership of former CM Arvind Kejriwal, emphasizing that Delhi now has the highest minimum wages in the country.
Atishi criticized the BJP, accusing it of being "anti-poor" and claiming that wages in BJP-ruled states are "half of what is being paid in Delhi." Despite what she called BJP's efforts to obstruct progress, Atishi pointed out that the Kejriwal government successfully revised wages twice a year, ensuring better earnings for workers in the capital.
The announcement followed a meeting between Atishi, cabinet ministers, and department heads, where she urged officials to work collaboratively in the interest of Delhi's people. She emphasized that the government is fully committed to supporting the officials and fulfilling its responsibility to provide the best services for the city's residents, emphasizing accountability and integrity in governance.
