SSP Ali stated that rescue efforts were launched immediately after the incident was reported, but the three could not be saved due to the depth of the sea. The man's identity and his relationship with the children could not be immediately determined. An Edhi Foundation spokesperson confirmed that their divers attempted to rescue the man and two children in the deep waters. Later reports identified the man as Aurangzeb Alam, a school teacher residing in Gabol Goth, Orangi Town No. 8. His companions were his 8-year-old son, Ahmed, and 4-year-old daughter, Ayat. His in-laws reside in Orangi Town 14-C, and he has another child with his wife.

Aurangzeb Alam's brother, Sagheer Alam, revealed that Aurangzeb had filed a petition for the custody of his children due to domestic issues. Just yesterday, the children's custody had been handed over to his wife. However, Aurangzeb's family has refused to accept the incident as a suicide, stating that he was a responsible, sensible, and deeply loving father who could not have taken such an extreme step.
