Rogfast Tunnel: A Game-Changer for Norwegian Infrastructure
Norway is embarking on a monumental engineering feat with the construction of the Rogfast tunnel, poised to become the world's longest and deepest multi-lane underwater road tunnel. This ambitious project, costing an estimated $2 billion, will stretch for an astonishing 27 kilometers and plunge to a depth of nearly 400 meters (approximately 1,300 feet) beneath the sea. The construction involves carving through a colossal 8 million cubic meters of rock.
Expected to reach completion by 2033, the Rogfast tunnel is designed to connect key highways along Norway's western coast. This will significantly reduce travel times between the major cities of Stavanger and Bergen, establishing a new global benchmark in subsea construction and showcasing Norway's innovation in infrastructure development.
