Maulana Sherani’s bride hails from Gilgit-Baltistan, and the marriage was solemnized in accordance with Islamic traditions. In an exclusive conversation with ARY News, the senior cleric confirmed the marriage and shared that his first wife had passed away some time ago.

Widely respected in both religious and political circles, Maulana Sherani has played a significant role in shaping Islamic discourse in Pakistan. His tenure as head of the Council of Islamic Ideology marked a period of active engagement in national religious affairs, earning him recognition as a principled and influential voice.

Maulana Sherani has long been a respected figure in Pakistan’s religious and political landscape. He previously served as a senior leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) before being expelled by the party’s Disciplinary Committee in December 2020. The decision sparked internal criticism, with former JUI-F KP chief Maulana Gul Naseeb defending Sherani’s integrity and questioning the party’s evolving leadership standards.

Following his departure from JUI-F, Maulana Sherani established his own faction, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sherani (JUI-Sherani). In 2022, he announced a political and religious alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after meeting former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Both leaders pledged to collaborate on combating Islamophobia and addressing social inequality through joint efforts.
