Education Scholarships 2026 Launched to Support Students in Kalash Valleys
Chitral Administration Hails KVDA Scholarship Programme for Minority Students
Educational scholarships were awarded to students from the Kalash valleys of Bumburet, Birir, Rumbur, and Janjiret Koh during a ceremony held under the Kalash Valleys Development Authority (KVDA). Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral Rao Mohammad Hashim Azeem attended the event as chief guest, along with the chief minister’s focal person for minority affairs Wazirzada and KVDA Director General Minhasuddin.
Addressing the Education Scholarships 2026 ceremony, the deputy commissioner praised KVDA’s role in the overall development of the Kalash valleys and termed the scholarship programme a vital initiative to ensure access to higher education for deserving students. He also highlighted Chitral’s achievement in finalising a character-building curriculum for public and private institutions, noting that its implementation would begin in the next academic year after winter vacations.
Earlier, DG KVDA Minhasuddin outlined the authority’s devolved governance structure and sustainable development master plan, while Wazirzada described the scholarship initiative as a historic milestone. He emphasized education as the foundation of long-term development and lauded the peaceful coexistence between Kalash and Muslim communities. The ceremony was attended by local representatives, education committee members, and heads of various educational institutions, who received scholarship cheques for eligible students.
