Global Ripple Effects: Travel Bans and Energy Risks Escalate

Indonesia's Ministry of Defence and military are implementing a one-day-a-week remote work policy to save fuel as the Middle East crisis tightens global energy supplies. Aligned with President Prabowo Subianto's efficiency directives, the move includes shifting some departments to a four-day in-office week to reduce commuting and operational costs. The government plans to monitor the impact of this work-from-home arrangement before potentially expanding it to other sectors.

The broader geopolitical crisis, sparked by a joint U.S.-Israel offensive on Iran and subsequent retaliations, has led to severe travel restrictions and flight cancellations. Hong Kong has raised travel alerts for Iran and Israel to the "black" level, and Cathay Pacific has halted Dubai flights through May 2026 due to security risks. Furthermore, Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz poses a significant threat to global energy stability, particularly affecting Asian economies.
