Chitral Suffers from Poor Telenor Network, Residents Demand Action

Locals Urge PTA to Revoke Telenor’s License Over Failing Mobile Services in Chitral

Mobile services in Chitral remain extremely poor, with Telenor’s network being the most unreliable. Despite holding a government-issued license to provide coverage in the region, Telenor has consistently failed to deliver dependable service across most areas of Chitral.

Residents complain that even during calls, the line drops after barely a minute, forcing them to redial repeatedly. Call connectivity issues, frequent network busy signals, and weak or nonexistent voice services are common problems. As for 3G and 4G internet services, their performance is even worse.

The public has urged higher authorities, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Universal Service Fund (USF), to intervene. Locals demand that either Telenor improves its services immediately or that its operating license be transferred to another company capable of providing reliable telecom services. Poor network coverage is negatively affecting businesses, students, and essential services throughout Chitral.
