Samina Baig Becomes First Pakistani to Ski to the South Pole, Advances Explorers Grand Slam Quest
Reflecting on the achievement, Baig described the journey as among the most challenging and meaningful experiences of her life. Her path spans more than a decade—from standing atop Mount Everest in 2013 and completing the Seven Summits, to climbing K2 and Nanga Parbat, and now traversing Antarctic ice to the South Pole. She said the journey taught her patience, resilience, and unwavering belief, emphasizing that progress often requires trusting a dream through uncertainty and continuing forward when conditions feel impossible.
Baig dedicated the accomplishment to her supporters, thanking community members who contributed financially, her family, and her expedition team for emotional support and trust. She also acknowledged the guidance of **Nirmal Purja** (popularly known as Nims Dai) and the logistics support of **Elite Expeditions**. Carrying the national flag of Pakistan alongside her Ismaili flag across mountains, continents, and polar ice, Baig called the moment the greatest honor of her life and expressed hope that her journey inspires young people—especially women—to pursue long-term dreams with courage and perseverance.
